QotD: Life-Changing Books
What are five books that changed your life?
Inspired by Ms. Genevieve.
This is a tough one, because there have been so many. But, a few:
My psych of personality teacher assigned this in college, and it blew me away. Changed the whole way I looked at myself and the world.
I don't like to argue about religion. I'm just looking for meaning. I've also had a long interest in mystic traditions. I'm Jewish, so I guess there's an added connection to this book. What interests me about Lawrence Kushner (not to be confused with Harold), though, is that he doesn't ask you to believe anything. He writes from a Jewish tradition, but no faith or belief system is required. He just makes connections that, afterwards, seem obvious.
I almost forgot this. A book that reminded me of the beauty of food and the pathetic ways we industrialize it.
(I'll get back to you on #5 -- maybe)
OK, I came up with number five. I'm not sure how much I'd enjoy this book now, but back during my college post-modernist phase it opened huge doors as to the impossibles for narrative structures.
